At Psoriasis Eczema Clinic, we understand that every patient is different and must be treated as such. We offer customized treatment plans for skin conditions using Integrative Dermatology principles and Prof. Tirant’s “Treatment Protocols”.
Integrative dermatology provided at the Psoriasis Eczema Clinic is based on proven scientific research – our treatment protocols have been developed over many years and have been tested by dermatologists in a number of clinical trials. We have achieved a 90% success rate in the treatment of psoriasis. We have also clinically treated many other skin conditions as successfully.
The ‘standard’ approach to treating skin conditions uses mainstream oral, injectable or topical medications to manage the inflammation and bring the symptoms under control. However, in many cases this does not address the underlying triggers and patients get caught up in a vicious cycle of flare-ups and treatment that never seems to end.
Professor Tirant completed much of his formal studies at Monash University, Victoria, Australia. In the early 1980’s, an interest in Complementary Medicine saw Professor Tirant undertake many studies completing a Diploma of Acupuncture, Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine, Diploma in Naturopathy, Diploma of Natural Therapies (Vitamin & Mineral) and a postgraduate course in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.
With over 30 years of clinical practice in Integrative Dermatology, knowledge of clinical biochemistry, and years of working and collaborating with Professors of Dermatology, Professor Tirant has been able to propose and research possible pathways eliciting dermatological flare-ups and various avenues for treatment.
Professor Tirant has scientifically formulated the Dr Michaels topical and Seloderma oral range of medications for the treatment of skin conditions. Professor Tirant has not only continued to strive to improve the topical treatments (to treat the symptoms) but has also developed an innovative approach for the patient, which involves combating the exacerbating triggers with oral medications and changes to diet and lifestyle. After many years of research Professor Tirant also noted a remarkable and interesting factor, that the primary triggers (that initiate the initial flare-up of the condition) and some of the secondary triggers (that continue to exacerbate the condition) are blood group related.
After spending years researching and treating psoriasis, Professor Tirant began to research and treat other skin conditions as he saw a commonality in the precipitating triggers that initiate and continue to exacerbate these conditions. This eventually led Professor Tirant to develop his own treatment protocols.
Prof. Tirant is an internationally recognised leader in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology and with over 30 years of medical research and clinical practice. The Psoriasis Eczema Clinic is dedicated to ongoing research and treatment to help our patients achieve the best possible results.
In December 2016, Prof. Tirant was granted a full Professorship in Dermatology by the University of Studies Guglielmo Marconi, Rome.
Prof. Tirant’s interest in skin conditions began after a close personal friend’s ongoing battle with psoriasis made him realise how little was actually known about the condition, including what caused the condition to have a waxing and waning pattern. He began to research psoriasis, concentrating not only on the initial precipitating factors but also the identification of the ongoing triggers that cause psoriasis to flare up.
After treating skin conditions for many years practising under his own name, Prof. Tirant opened the first registered Psoriasis & Skin Clinic in 1998 in Frankston, Melbourne. Expansion came in 2000, when the first Sydney Clinic was opened; within a year a second Sydney Clinic opened. In 2003, the Adelaide clinic was established and shortly after that one in Brisbane.
The group underwent a branding change in 2012 from ‘Psoriasis & Skin Clinic’ to ‘Good Skin Care’ to better reflect the wide range of conditions treated. At one stage there were 20 Good Skin Care clinics across Australia and New Zealand. In order to allow more patients to gain access to the treatment products, we now operate under a distribution system.
Prof. Tirant now privately operates two Psoriasis Eczema Clinics, Frankston and St. Kilda Road, Melbourne. Our Psoriasis Practitioners use the treatment protocols devised by the founder and lead researcher, Prof. Tirant. The Dr Michaels and Seloderma range of products are Prof. Tirant’s own formulations and Prof. Tirant constantly reviews the product range in an effort to always be at the cutting edge of current research.
Our friendly and highly trained Practitioners are just as committed as Prof. Tirant to achieving the best possible results for patients.
